Roger Applewhite is a Houston-based personal trainer and gym owner whose career has spanned nearly 20 years. His dedication to the lifestyle and unparalleled work ethic garnered him an outstanding reputation within the fitness industry over the years and in December 2004, and again in 2005, Roger was voted as one of the “100 Best Trainers in America” by Men’s Journal Magazine.As a personal trainer, Roger has assisted countless people achieve a higher level of fitness and a healthier lifestyle. Roger also co-founded and owned one of the world’s first fitness blogs named “MuscleJournal.com”. From 1999 to 2003 he shared his abundance of knowledge on exercise, nutrition and lifestyle- aiding fitness enthusiasts seeking information and inspiration via the worldwide web. His great sense of humor, “365 day a year” fitness lifestyle attitude and endless energy, all add to his client’s training experience. Roger’s fitness philosophy sees each individual as an “athlete in life”- one that must be prepared to face life’s daily tasks and unanticipated events throughout their lifetime. Over the years Roger has honed his craft to become more of a strength & conditioning and fat-loss coach. His style incorporates elements from bodybuilding (muscle, symmetry and balance), total body conditioning (increased metabolic effect/caloric expenditure), core training (conditioned shoulders, mid-section front & back and the hips), corrective exercises (postural, rehabilitative), flexibility and cardiovascular work into each and every session. His focus on strict form and long-term results through properly programmed and demanding functional workouts- make training with Roger a life changing experience.During his long career Roger has also had the opportunity to work alongside some of the industry giants like Met-Rx, EAS (Experimental and Applied Sciences), Labrada Nutrition, Mile High Publishing and Weider. Roger has always been steadfast in his attempt to lead by example and help “spread the word” of physical fitness around the world. In addition to his consulting and spokes model work, Roger has also graced numerous covers including Muscle Media, Men’s Fitness Magazine and The Sports Supplement Review (3rd and 4th Ed.), and modeled for numerous industry sports supplement advertisements.Roger has held certifications with The National Academy of Sport Medicine (Advanced), The International Sports Sciences Association and The Professional Fitness Instructor Training through the Baylor College of Sports Medicine and is currently working on his re-certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS).Roger presently works with his clientele at One2One Training Center (Richmond location)...which he co-owns with his partner Greg Corriere.
